Numbers 1, 3, and 5 Church Green is a row of ancient cottages. Number 1, with its timber frame visible is known as the “Priests House” and is said to have been the parish priests house until 1636 when the Rectory was built on Walkern Road.
The core of the cottages originated as a 16th Century (or earlier) hall house. The later jettied extension is early 17th Century and appears to lean towards the Green. The internal floors were also added in the 17th Century. The building is grade II listed.
